One Genevan’s Star-Crossed Heroic Brawl Against Injustice
Part I is a description of an event that a wise Elgin newspaper editor opined would best be soon forgotten. Kane County historians for the most part have taken his sage advice. Subsequent parts will explain how Captain John King became, albeit briefly, a Genevan and what became of him.
Part II is a description of King’s early life and career until 1857 when he arrived in Elgin, Illinois.
